I like to think that I am close to the end of my Online Marketer/Content Marketer Journey. I’ve built up a reasonable passive(ish) income that supplements my Army pension.. (yep, I spent 12 years in the Army).
My days now consist of a few hours of easy work followed by pursuing fun projects; I am building a YouTube Gaming channel for older gamers and trying to livestream.
It’s going well after a few days:
This is what I’d Do If I Were Starting Over
Create Content & Build Habits
First, I’d pick a niche I was interested in. I wouldn’t start by searching Google for “What are profitable Niches?”
Nope, I’d simply pick something that stirred my juices.
As you may have guessed, I like gaming, so I might start with that. I also like creating simple recipes from what we have in the fridge or pantry, so there is another option.
I’d then spent the first month, publishing content on my own blog.
At this point, I am not interested in SEO or Traffic. I just want to find a process that works for me and to build a habit.
After the first month, I want writing to be second nature. I want to know what tools allow me to write and publish content easily every day, as I don’t want to fight technology.
Having said that, I wouldn’t do any SEO. Here is the 28-day traffic to my new blog after posting every day for 2 months:
It seems that just writing is enough to attract traffic. But there’s more!
After a month, I’d start importing those articles to Medium daily.
You may also want to post links to them on Pinterest or other social media sites. I don’t do this as I don’t have social media accounts (Mental Health > Random “Shit Takes”)
We aren’t looking for results yet; we are simply building habits and processes.
Build an Engagement Platform
We’ve now built our habits and we have some idea about which content resonates with our audience.
Now, we want to refine who our audience is.
It’s not everyone in that niche—far from it. I’d initially focus on those just starting out. You can then help them on their journey as you can show the steps you’ve recently taken, unlike the average guru teaching things that worked for them 5 years ago.
Begin by publishing “how to” style content and “How I overcame <struggle>” content.
I would also add a weekly newsletter that deep-dives into topics you’ve recently covered. I’d then link tothe newsletter from each relevant article.
Now you have content that attracts your ideal audience and a newsletter to attract those that are serious about your niche.
Create A Community
My final step would be to add a community I can link to from my newsletter for those who are very serious about their journey.
The community can take many forms, such as a WhatsApp group, a Skool Community, or a Dischord group. You can choose whatever works best for you.
Start this as a free group, and once it becomes popular, you can monetise it. Never forget that $19 X 200 members is $3800 each month.
Implementation
You might be thinking about what you can teach and add to your community… Implementation: You Teach people how to implement what you been teaching them in your content and newsletter
Your Roadmap
Let’s look at how that would look when written down simply.
Content →Newsletter →Offer
That’s it.. ohh and it’s also exactly what I’ve been doing for the past 18 months.

That's awesome! It's a very similar plan to mine.
Phase 1 is coming to an end after publishing every day.
I started out as a YouTuber with a gaming channel...crossed 250k views and 750 subs even though I stopped producing content almost three years ago.
I agree with your approach...make "How I" content so it serves people no matter how old it is.
As long as a game doesn't change too much, this works well for a gaming channel.
Spot on Vince… how to is evergreen content
