Going about my daily life, I came across two great pieces of marketing this week. Both were outside the normal type of marketing you see.
The first was a local Pet Hotel giving free dog bowls with their contact details on them to all the local cafes.
The second was yesterday as I was having a coffee with a friend.
He whipped out his phone and said watch this…
He fired up an app called Kommo and created a small segment of 92 people; he then created a message about a property he had just received details of. (he’s a Real Estate agent, but I don’t hold that against him as long as he pays for the coffee).
Kommo then sends these messages out via WhatsApp.
The results by the time we finished the coffee was impressive.
18 replies showing interest, and 2 unsubscribed.
But What’s That To Do With Writing?
A Lot!
Think outside the box; how can you target your ideal customer?
You may have seen this image before, but I am incredibly proud of it, so you get to see it again.
This email was sent to 82 people with a specific offer created just for them. It was so good I had to refund one person as he accidentally bought twice🤪
42% conversion rate.
But, I can’t do this on Substack… You Can!
Now we get to the bit that matters how to replicate something similar on Substack.
Create an offer that ties in with something you talk about (Ideally, something that will help people implement what you teach).
Plan a series of 4 Newsletters that give useful actionable advice.
Provide a link to a webpage that explains it more. (NOT a sales page!)
For example, “If you’d like to learn more about Knitting Hat’s for Pugs click here”
Use the substack filters to send the offer to anyone who clicks that link
What do I mean by Substack filters??
Under those filters, you’ll find lots of options, including Clicked link.
That’s it you’ve suddenly stopped doing what everyone else does and target their whole audience and you are targeting a small segment of interested subscribers.
Please give it a go and let me know how it gets goes. But don’t just follow these ideas think about how you can add your own ideas to it.
I’ve given you the chisel now go carve a statue!
