How long have you spent trying to figue out a niche, what you should write about or what your newsletter should cover?
Probably too long if my experiences are anything to go by.
You’ll immediately face the “niche” question when you start something new.
Pick something profitable. Pick something evergreen. Pick something with low competition?
You can find lots of conflicting advice online.
All of it is useful advice, but also overwhelming.
So here’s a different angle:
Start with something you’re genuinely curious about.
Not something you’ve mastered. Not something you plan to turn into a brand empire. Just something that you want to learn more about anyway.
Then document your journey.
That’s pretty much my entire business model whether it’s my writing, my courses or my new Micro Empires Project.
I’m not pretending to be an expert in every niche I explore. I pick a topic I’m interested in, then create content for the version of me who was just starting out.
This approach does two powerful things:
You stay motivated because you’re learning as you go.
You attract people just a few steps behind you and that’s where the magic happens.
You can help people with the same interests as you.
Because when you create for the person you were six months ago, you’ll always have something valuable to say.
