Repeating the Same Things 20 Years Later.... Because They Still Work!
Originality Is Overrated
I’ve been making sales this month every day without fail, by simply using a strategy I first used back in 2006/7
Back in 2005/6 Travis Sago created the Bum Marketing Method. The premise was simple.
Create articles, link to offers and post them on article directories. That was it.
At the time, sites like Ezine Articles would also share their AdSense revenue, which was a double bonus.
It worked and it worked well until Google spoiled the party.
If you look now, you’ll see statements like this:
While the Bum Marketing Method was innovative and effective in its early days, changes in search engine algorithms and the decline of article directories have rendered the technique largely obsolete.
Little do they know!
Alive and Kicking
Today, the modern equivalent to article directories is Medium, although they probably won’t thank me for that comparison.
So, a few months ago, I wondered what would happen if I linked directly to a course from my Medium articles.
They were working great for getting newsletter subscribers.
But it went against everything I learned from email marketing.
Building relationships over time led to sales.
People would rarely buy from a direct link.
Guess what? I was wrong. (again!)
The simple sales page I set up is converting at between 6.2% on the worst day to 10.7% percent on the best day.
So for every 100 people who click through I make between 6 and 10 sales.
How I Set It Up
I stumbled on this by mistake!
In the Inner Circle/ Growth Hub (paid subscribers have access) I wanted to create a video showing how useful AI could be in analysing what you have already written.
So I analysed my content and asked ChatGPT to suggest some possible courses I could create… One really stood out.
So I documented how I created courses and posted daily videos of the build process in the community. At the end I had a course I could publish.
I launched the course and added links to my daily articles. It was important that the articles reflected the content in the course.
I thought it would sell a few copies and then die off.
I was wrong… again!
Each day I write an article and added a link to the course at the end and every day I make sales.
Like clockwork,
Tick Tock Tick Tock.
Your Turn
Over to you, If you have 30 minutes a day you can replicate exactly what i’ve done with my content.
• Find an offer, it can be an affiliate offer if you don’t have your own but i’d recommend asking ChatGPT to analyse your content for course ideas.
• Publish daily articles related to your offer and add a related CTA at the end.
• Rinse and Repeat every day
That’s it it’s not difficult, and it works. If you want help setting this up then come to the Inner Circle/Growth Hub or grab a paid subscription. There you’ll find the whole process documented from first chatGPT prompts to results.
that's a nice little system working as a cash machine and helping people achieve their goals too.
Another big lessons: be prepared to be wrong and keep testing things!
