My 2025 Minimalist Tech Stack
I've spend 2024 consolifating my tech stack ...now it's a minimal tech stack.
This year, I made a concerted effort to reduce my tech stack and, where possible, go back to basics.
As a result, I have a minimalist tech stack going into 2025.
Here is what I use:
Writing Apps
I used to love writing apps and switched between several: Hemminingway, IA Writer, Scrivener, and Ulysses were the main ones.
However, for daily writing, I now use the WordPress classic editor.
All my writing is first published on my Blog and then Imported to wherever it needs to go …usually Medium.

I use a writing app only to write my books, and then I use Reedsy, which is free.
Email and Newsletters
You’ll notice in this newsletter I am following the path of my so-called “Funnel”
Content => Newsletter => Offer. I can safely say I’ve fully embraced minimalism!
I write my newsletter here on Substack, but I also use Kit (formerly Convertkit) to send access details to my buyers and maintain a buyers list.
This approach works well and ensures that buyers immediately get access to what they’ve bought, as the Kit automations are simple but work well.
Shopping Cart
I use Thrivecart to process my payments and host my courses. I bought lifetime access to Thrivecart when It launched, and it’s paid for itself many times over.
It's relatively simple to use and allows me to host courses. More importantly, it connects to Kit seamlessly, keeping the buying and getting access process simple.
Community Building
I run two communities for content marketers: The InnerCircle, which focuses on General content Marketing, and The Growth Hub, which offers personal and group help and training. Both are hosted and managed on Skool.
Once again, this is a minimalist approach to communities and forums. Over the years, I’ve used many apps and software tools to host my communities, but Skool is the easiest to use.
Video Hosting
My main form of knowledge transfer is via video, so I use Loom to host my videos, I tried the AI tools there but didn’t really use them so I createand edit my videos with Screenflow and then host them on Loom.
I also publish weekly videos on YouTube. I record my screen with Screenflow and just talk about whatever the subject is.. no script.
I intend to do more of this in 2025.
Here is an example:
AI Tools
Don’t Judge!
There is a place for AI in the content writing world.
I use ChatGPT to analyse my writing and suggest follow up articles that will fill any “Knowledge Gaps” I’ll then write the new article based on what I could have explained better.
I’ll often feed ChatGPT a series of similar articles and ask it to give me a list of talking points raised in those articles I can tackle next.
This ensures that I can then link back to older articles and hopefully send them fresh traffic.
I also use AI to create images.
Ideogram.AI is probably my favourite find of the year, it far better than midjourney which I used the past.
Give it an idea, and it will create and use a magic prompt and give you four alternative images. Simply go wild with your imagination.
That’s the simple funnel I’ll be using going into 2025. It's not only simple but relatively cheap to use. Apart from Skool and Kit, everything else has a free tier or costs less than a few coffees.
If you can think of anything else I should try, let me know.
See you in 2025..
Mark
If you want to work with me to build your content business in 2025 check out the VIP Subscriber Tier or the All Access Pass (both give access to all my offers and communities for a whole year)
Took a look and wondered is the investment monthly or annually?
Had the same question about Skool and might as well have asked if Mandarin was English from their "support" team.
Simple yes or no would have sufficed.
Anyway, can you respond with monthly or annually. Thanks.🙃
