Sorry If This Shatters Some Illusions...

I’ve been writing online for 20 years.

• I’ve never gone Viral

• I’m not a particularly good writer

• I’ve never had mass engagement.

And yet, I am still here. I earn a good income from my writing, which has been my only source of income for the past twenty years.

Writing isn't the golden ticket if you’re in a hurry to make money.

Writing is more about planting seeds and waiting for them to grow into something substantial.

It’s the snowball effect: You start small, and over time, momentum builds. Two words will guide your journey: Patience and Consistency.

A link in an article I posted six months ago generated $67 on Monday, so far that article has earned me over $500.

One of these newsletters generated $99 on Tuesday.

Another article is responsible for over $20,000 over 3 years, and yet another series of three articles generated almost $60,000 over the past eight years and still generates a few hundred dollars each month.

The Reality of Online Writing

Most of us will never post images showing a six-figure income from our newsletters, but that doesn’t mean you won’t earn enough money to live comfortably.

That is the reality, and I am happy with it.

With big incomes comes even bigger pressure to perform at the highest level constantly. I have had that in the past, and I can assure you that lower incomes with less pressure are what I suggest you strive for.

I posted this last week: 2023 and 2024 have been my most enjoyable years as a writer… and that’s because I limited myself to 2 -3 hours a day and enjoyed a simple life.

Here is A Simple Plan…

Here is what I suggest you do to give yourself the best possible chance of success: (you’ll notice that this is in reverse… it’s the best way to build an online business… more about that another day!)

1. Create One Offer - That Helps Your Audience Implement What You Teach

2. Write a Weekly Newsletter - that deep dives into what works.

3. Publish Daily Content - that helps people make progress and highlights your newsletter.

4. Engage and give freely - don’t hold anything back.

The Answers Are Out There

This is the most important lesson I’ve ever learned Online:

If you want to succeed and live a comfortable life, don’t do what people tell you to do. Do what they are doing!

Instead of buying that course, look how it’s being marketed, look for people who will help you to implement what they’ve taught, find like minded people and talk to them about what’s working.
