A while ago, I watched a video of a marketer explaining how to start Email Marketing. If I’d watched that video 20 years ago, I probably would have looked for something else to do.
He gave the viewers a long list of things they had to do to succeed.
• Research their Ideal Audience
• Create a Landing Page
• Test the landing page for conversion rates
• Create a Funnel
• Create an Offer
• Create an Upsell
• Create Another Upsell
• Build an automation
• Build an email sequence
• Create a second sequence
• Create 30 days of emails to follow up with..
I could go on, but I’m blanking it all out!

KEEP IT SIMPLE
I wrote a newsletter a few weeks ago where I laid out what I would do if I were starting over, and it had none of those… (you’ll find it in my profile)
Think about this for a moment:
If you write content or publish videos that inform your ideal audience, you’ll attract them.
If I wrote an article or created a video called …
“How To Make a Tatami Mat”
Who do you think I’d attract?
If I then wrote in that article or said in the Video:
If you’d like a list of the tools I use to create my Tatami mats , comment “Tatami Tools” below.
If I then replied with a link to a very basic landing page where they entered their Email address, who do you think I’d attract?
Hopefully, people who are really keen to create Tatami mats.
Now we have an audience who is interested in what we have to offer, so it’s simply a case of creating offers for them.
How do you do that?
You ask them.
What is the biggest problem you have with creating Tatami mats?
Now, you have everything you need to build your ideal lifestyle business.
You can create a newsletter, live training, courses, and books, use affiliate links, get sponsorship, start YouTube channels and get monetised, or create a community.
The world is your oyster!
Just Commit
There is an audience for every possible idea you can come up with unless you are 100 times weirder than me, and I doubt that’s possible.
You need to commit to creating regular content, following through on your offers, and engaging your audience.
How do you engage?
You build your content around stories,
“ Here is how I started my Tatami Journey”
“Here is what I learned from my Japanese visit”
Go back and read my opening paragraph… I led with an anecdote, which set the tone for the rest of this newsletter.
Throw away the copywriting books and invest in scriptwriting and story-telling books.
Watch How I Do This
If you’ve got 2 minutes spare, watch this video where I go through the only process you need for email marketing and adapt it to your situation:
That’s it. Have a great week, and if you have any questions, just ask. I am here to help you succeed!
Sound advice, as always!
