Everyone wants fast.
Fast growth.
Fast followers.
Fast cash.
But the problem is that real growth takes time, and most people seem to have forgotten this.
Go look around here, so many people have published 3-5 newsletters and given up, others have published notes every day for two weeks …and given up.
You can find them on Reddit saying Substack is all hype, it doesn’t work…
Totally unaware that it would if they gave it time.
Long-term action compounds. Quietly.
And it only shows up for the people who keep showing up.
That’s why I always say:
Give your idea at least 6 months.
Not 6 hours. Not 6 days.
Six months of focused effort.
Publishing. Testing. Listening. Tweaking.
I see people abandon great ideas way too early.
Not because they don’t work…
But because they didn’t give them time to work.
Short-term thinking will convince you:
“If this was the right idea, it would’ve worked by now.”
But long-term thinking asks:
“What would this look like if I kept going for 180 days?”
The difference is massive.
Because you don’t just need a good idea you need momentum.
Two years ago, I started writing daily on Medium, for 18 months I was convinced it wouldn’t work, but I kept on going because I enjoyed the process.
Here are the stats from two years ago… (Ignore the 4470 followers. I opened an account when Medium started and was getting 1000 subscribers a week just for turning up!)
Now look at the last 3 months:
Suddenly, the consistency has started to pay off with daily sales and Medium payments each month
Do The Work
Momentum doesn’t show up until you’ve done the work.
Over and over again.
I didn’t see results from my writing for 18 months
But I kept going.
500+ articles later… I’m glad I did.
If your idea has potential, give it time.
And if it doesn’t?
You’ll only know that for sure after you’ve shown up consistently.
If my Medium account started getting zero views tomorrow, I am still sitting on a goldmine of information and content, about four full-sized books’ worth of information. (or 25 minibooks)
How many ways could you think of using 250,000 words?
So here’s your challenge:
Pick one thing.
One project.
And commit to it for the next six months.
That is exactly what I have planned to do from now until the end of the year.
A new project I am prepared to give time to.
Over to you!

Too much is about now now now.
Building something that lasts longer than the half life of a normal social media post still takes focus and patience.
Jumping from one thing to the next is an exercise in futility.
This mindset seems to be in everything these days.
I remember “you only need 6 months” became a bit of an overused meme on Twitter a few years ago. But think the wisdom of it got overlooked.
